Sept. 1861 Home Th. 5 Yesterday I sent to Mrs Fleming who is Presdt of the Ladies Relief Assn of Aiken the following articles to be sent to our Soldiers 2 Blankets 4 bottles grape juice 1 package of Gelatine 1 package Iceland Koss These will be sent either to the hospitals of Va. or to the Allen guards now in Missouri These Relief Assns are now formed all over our state, & collections made of a11 & every thing useful for the sick, clothes, bed clothes towels, &c, medicines, wines brandies jellies &c &c There is a centra1 Bureau established at CharlottesVille of which Revd Mr Barnwell of S. C. College is the head, assisted by a number of physicians nurses apothecaries &c From this point these things are distributed as they are wanted, to the other hospitals Already immense quantities of such supplies have been sent & distributed, &
